The best foundation for paraben-free cosmetics

If you are seeking to avoid xenoestrogens because you want to prevent or correct an estrogen-related health condition such as meningioma, breast cancer, uterine fibroids, or endometriosis, you have a real problem when it comes to cosmetics.  It is not only a common practice to include parabens as  a preservative in cosmetics, in some cases, it’s required.  (The use of parabens such as methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben are controversial;  there are some studies showing they may be associated with the health problems listed above.  It’s controversial because many scientists and many companies feel the association is not well-founded.)

It’s not so hard to find shampoos and lotions and skin care that are paraben-free.  It’s much harder to find liquid cosmetics such as foundation.

The mineral make-ups such as Neutrogen Mineral Sheers, Sheer Cover, Sephora’s Bare Escentuals, and Pur are powder-based, therefore, a paraben preservative is not needed.  So for an affordable foundation, if you have fairly good, well-hydrated skin, you can try a mineral makeup.

However, for older or dryer skins, mineral makeups may not look so good.  They tend to accentuate wrinkles and pores.

And yet, women who are struggling with long-term health problems want and deserve to feel beautiful.

After almost a year of trying to find the best solution to avoiding potential negative health impacts while being able to maintain the natural beauty of a moist, clear, youthful skin, I’ve found that you need to stay with the mineral makeups BUT add the kind of basic skin care that minimizes pores and wrinkles.

Lotions alone will not do it for you if you have older skin, say, over age 35, or if your skin is sun-damaged.

There is a new volcanic clay ash product that has done amazing things for my 50-something skin.  It’s exfoliates, it moisturizes, it shrinks pores and makes them virtually disappear, and it minimizes the fine lines around my eyes and my smile zone.  Perhaps there are other clay masks that work as well but when I find something that works, especially after such a long search, I tend to stick with it.

It’s called Clay Essentials by a natural products company, Trilogy International.

I would just recommend that you give this face and body mask a try, and then use a good hydrating paraben-free lotion and a mineral foundation.  This way, you can continue to look and feel wonderful while you address your health problems.

All the very best to you!
