A Must Read: The Healing Power of a Wholesome Diet for Brain Tumor Patients
I stumbled across this article on nutrition and once again, it supports the theories that I’ve been following for the past nine months, right down to including indole-3-carbinol!! Hooray!
This comes from Jeanne M. Wallace, PhD, CNC:
First, review all dietary changes with your physician.
Second, this is not a cure, it’s a complementary strategry to support your body’s own tumor-fighting and cancer-fighting abilities and whatever medicine is doing for you.
Third, phytonutrients — plants and vegetables — are KEY! (So glad I’m a vegetarian!)
Fourth, look for fruits and vegetables with high antioxidant and ORAC ratings.
Fifth, control inflammation. In one study, an excess amount of inflammatory compounds was the strongest predictor of poor outcomes for glioma patients. (I control inflammation with acai and fish oil).
Sixth, cut sweets and high carbohydrate foods, they feed inflammation.
